Many men with sexual health problems feel isolated, which is ironic given that 25 per cent of men are affected by premature ejaculation, and an estimated 2.3 million experience difficulties with erectile function.
Paul Suggett, head of positive healthcare for Boots Pharmaceuticals explains: "Although widespread, the taboo nature of premature ejaculation and support for erectile function stops many sufferers from seeking help."
The most common male sexual issue is premature ejaculation. Although what is considered premature is subjective, almost half of men (47 per cent) surveyed in a recent Men's Sexual Health study said they would like to last up to 10 minutes longer during sex. And more than two-thirds (68 per cent) said they had ejaculated earlier than they’d have liked.
Erection problems are also common. Almost one in five (19 per cent) said they had experienced difficulty in getting or maintaining an erection to enable satisfactory intercourse. It is recommended that those who have difficulty in getting an erection should see their doctor, as it can be associated with problems such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
Getting discreet access to effective products can be a challenge. In response, Boots — which is committed to making the right healthcare accessible to all — has applied its pharmaceutical expertise to produce a range of medically endorsed men’s sexual wellbeing products.
The new Boots Pharmaceuticals Men's Sexual Wellbeing range is available in-store from the Family Planning area, and is supported with expert pharmacist advice. Online at www.boots.com
