Priligy now available in Singapore

The premature ejaculation treatment Priligy has been made available in Singapore.

Priligy helps men to last three times longer during sex. The drug is already approved and was made available to men in the UK last autumn. A so-called ‘magic pill’, Priligy has an effect on the levels of a chemical called serotonin in men’s bodies, which helps them to prolong ejaculation.


Worldwide, premature ejaculation is a common problem, affecting around 40% of men. In Singapore, studies have shown that many men experience the condition, but few are willing to discuss it with their partners or doctors.

Premature ejaculation is often caused by stress or anxiety. It does not cause any health problems, but embarrassment usually results. This embarrassment can lower a man’s confidence and even contribute towards the breakdown of his relationship.

Before Priligy was developed, only topical creams and lotions were available to treat premature ejaculation. These had a numbing effect on the penis, which may have delayed ejaculation, but which could also act as a barrier to sexual pleasure.

A Singapore Premature Ejaculation Prevalence and Attitudes study has previously shown that 77% of men with PE have never discussed their sexual health with a medical practitioner. Around 43% said that if they saw a doctor, then they felt they were letting their partner down. 54% believed that having longer intercourse would have a “dramatic effect” on their sex lives.
